Business Education- Marketing Pathway

Business Administration is one of the most widely valued degrees in today’s work environment, as it provides a solid grounding in many areas of business and is flexible enough to prepare graduates for employment in many different careers.

The Business Education – Marketing Pathway provides students in-depth, comprehensive, project-based learning opportunities. Students will apply their understanding of consumer buying behavior and relationships; the tools and techniques used by organizations that identify the factors that influence marketing strategy decisions; market segmentation and target marketing; the elements of the marketing mix (product, price, promotion, and place); as well as pricing strategies to create a written professional marketing plan.

Course Sequence:

Course 1: Principles of Business, Administration, and Management
In this course students will learn about the different types of businesses. They will investigate management, risk, and business law. There will be a strong focus on business ethics. Students will learn to analyze the functions of business through evaluating, planning, organizing, and controlling. Students will develop communication skills that will be necessary for success in the workplace and college.

Course 2: Accounting 1
Accounting I will allow students to explore accounting as a possible career and will prepare students for the first semester of college accounting. The course integrates and reinforces math, accounting, and computer skills necessary for higher education as well as future employment and includes critical thinking, decision making, problems solving, team building, ethics, work quality, communication, and technology.

Course 3: Marketing 1
The Marketing I course introduces the student to the essential concepts of marketing theory and the foundations, functions, and benefits of marketing in a free enterprise system. Students will integrate their knowledge of legal issues, the importance of ethics, and social responsibilities in marketing. Students will understand and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and develop9 an appreciation of human diversity.

First Financial Federal Credit Union- Owl Branch
Dundalk High School hosts a branch of the First Financial Federal Credit Union called the Owl Branch. Any student, teacher, or their family members are eligible to become a member and complete transactions at the Owl Branch or any other full-service branch of First Financial Federal Credit Union. The Owl Branch is run by student interns and is open every other day during all lunch shifts.
