The Dundalk High School English Department is comprised of dedicated teachers who educate students through rigorous instruction in order to promote the development of analytical thinking. The DHS English Department uses works of literary merit by renowned authors such as Harper Lee, Elie Wiesel, Chinua Achebe, F. Scott Fitzgerald and William Shakespeare to instill in students an understanding of and respect for literature. Through the study of literature students acquire various ways to interpret situations, examine thinking and extend meaning. Students are taught to demonstrate sound literary analysis using both effective writing strategies and oral presentation skills.

The DHS English Department works collaboratively with students, parents and the school administration to ensure student learning and achievement.
